This spring, I had the privilege of shooting clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh.  Born in Damascus - and now living in New York City - he has profound view of the world.  His place in the world.  And where, on this earth, is home.

What follows are photos from a preliminary test shoot in my studio.  A get-to-know-you session more than anything else.  While I snapped, he spoke candidly about his music, his inspirations, his country, his loves.  And how he uses music to educate, question and emote.

There will hopefully be more to this series, as his schedule permits.  In the meantime, for more information on Kinan, http://kinanazmeh.com.  Be sure to check out Home Within (under "Projects") - a poignant multi-media staging (with visual artist Kevork Mourad) - to raise both awareness and funds for Syrian refugees.
