I’ve had the good fortune of shooting a lot of women over the past few years, and getting to know each of them has been both fun and enlightening. All smart, all strong, all ambitious – and all feminine and female in their own unique way.
It’s made me think of all those slogans we’ve heard for years – “we’ve come a long way baby” and “I am woman, hear me roar.” Do those words still have meaning - or maybe even more meaning – today?
Six months ago, I started asking these women what it means to be a woman in the 21st century. There have been 15 women in all, and each were asked the same dozen or so questions. I didn't go in with any assumptions or projections. Just curiosity.
Over the next few days, I’ll share their answers. In the meantime - we have, indeed, come a long way. But don't call us baby.
